Baby Goats!

We got our 4 Nigerian goat doelings this weekend and we could not be more excited to have them join our homestead. We got them because they are small, have great personalities and will supply us with delicious raw milk! We don't have the space for our own milk cow so goats were a perfect option. We plan to make cheese, soap and so much more! Have you considered raw goat's milk as an option? There are so many great health benefits to raw goat's milk. Here are my top 3 reasons to get a dairy goat for their milk!

1.) Highly digestible! If you have trouble with digesting cow dairy, goats milk may be a great option for you! It has a lot less lactose than cow's milk while still containing all the vitamins and minerals you need. It also is high in medium chain fatty acids which has been shown to help with many digestive issues. It also helps with preventing heart diseases!

2.) Great for your skin! I'm sure you have seen goat's milk soap in your local health food store. There is a reason it has become so common and useful. The fatty' acids help moisturize and fight off skin inflammation such as acne. The lactic acid found in goat's milk also gets rid of old skin cells while brightening and toning skin!

3.) Better Nutrient Absorption. Goats milk contains a very similar amount of vitamins and minerals to cow's but because you can digest it better those nutrients are more bioavailable!

There are many other dairy goat breeds you can purchase such as Nubians, Alpines Goats, Sannen etc. If you are interested in goats, do your research on what would work best for you and your space. If you're not interested in owning goats, find a local farm that sells their milk and milk products. You will know where your milk is coming from and get some great benefits to your health!
